Cold Brew 101: How to Make the Perfect Sip at Home

Cold Brew 101: How to Make the Perfect Sip at Home

(Because patience tastes better over ice.)

At Sip Happens Coffee Works, we believe cold brew is more than just iced coffee, it’s smooth, bold, and basically summer in a glass. The best part? You don’t need a fancy setup or barista training to make it. With just a few simple steps (and a little patience), you can brew café-quality cold brew right at home.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup coarsely ground Sip Happens coffee beans

  • 4 cups cold filtered water

  • A large jar, pitcher, or French press

  • Fine mesh sieve, coffee filter, or cheesecloth

  • Ice

  • Optional: milk, cream, or flavored syrup

Step-by-Step Directions

1. Measure & Grind
Use a 1:4 ratio of coffee to water (1 cup coffee grounds to 4 cups water). Grind your beans coarsely—like breadcrumbs. Too fine and you’ll end up with gritty sludge.

2. Mix It Up
Add the coffee grounds to your jar or French press. Pour in the water and stir until all the grounds are fully soaked.

3. Steep & Chill
Cover and let it steep in the fridge for 12–18 hours. (Yes, it’s a waiting game, but trust us! it’s worth it.)

4. Strain It
Strain through a fine mesh sieve lined with a coffee filter or cheesecloth. If using a French press, just plunge slowly and pour.

5. Sip & Customize
Serve over ice, add milk or cream if you like, and swirl in your favorite syrup. Pro tip: try our Vanilla Dream Syrup for a sweet upgrade.

Sip Happens Tips

  • Keep It Concentrated: Want stronger cold brew? Use a 1:3 ratio (coffee to water) and dilute with water or milk when serving.

  • Stay Fresh: Store cold brew in the fridge in a sealed container for up to a week.

  • Get Creative: Mix it into cocktails, mocktails, or even bake with it (hello, cold brew brownies).

Cold brew is proof that good things come to those who wait—and sip.
